Creativity

Creativity is the capacity to produce something both novel and meaningful by reorganizing what already exists.

Every creative act uses material.

Language.

Memory.

Movement.

Knowledge.

Constraint.

Experience.

Even radical innovation emerges from a world that already contains something.

Creativity therefore differs from imagination.

Imagination may generate endless possibilities.

Creativity accepts the harder task of giving one of them form.

That means constraint is not always the enemy of creativity.

Sometimes it is the thing that finally makes creation possible.
