Can you be Real with Reality ?

Reality looks different depending on where you read it from...

Attention selects.

Memory associates.

Emotion colours.

Identity takes a position.

Culture supplies a script.

Instinct prepares a response.

Before you know it, an experience and the way you explain it to yourself, and others, can feel like the same thing.

Reality literacy

The Hidden Hero’s Journey begins in the space between them.

It asks how we can remain in contact with what we are living while becoming more curious about the processes that make it mean what it seems to mean.

That capacity is called Reality Literacy.

Can you stay in Reality?

Reality Literacy is the capacity to stay in contact with experience while examining the patterns, assumptions, frames, and structures that give it meaning.

It doesn’t ask you to distrust everything you feel. Experience can be real without every first explanation being complete or accurate.

You may genuinely feel excluded while being uncertain why the message was not returned.

You may feel danger in your body without yet knowing whether the present moment, an older pattern, or several things at once are contributing.

You may be right about a situation and still benefit from seeing how identity, expectation, or cultural inheritance is shaping your view.

More room for choice to be yours

Reality Literacy makes room for both contact and revision.

Not cynicism.

Not self-gaslighting.

Not a clever way to explain away pain.

A more careful relationship with meaning.

The hidden journey

The Hidden Hero’s Journey is not hidden because it belongs to a secret world.

It is hidden because so much of what organises a life operates before it becomes visible…

✨ the identity that decides what is “like me,” the frame that determines what receives attention

✨ the emotional climate surrounding a choice, the instinctive movement toward or away

✨ the inherited current beneath a family rule

✨ the awareness capable of seeing the whole arrangement

Seeing your mind shaping reality

These influences are not necessarily sinister.

Most are ordinary.

Some are protective.

Many were learned long before they were chosen.

The journey is the practice of bringing them into view without turning every uncertainty into a theory.

Six domains of reading reality

The Six Domains  provide six places from which an experience can be examined.

They are not personality types, diagnoses, spiritual planes, or predictive categories.

They are different domains of inquiry.

One experience can be read through several of them, and different readings may reveal different parts of the same reality.

✨ House: identity and the structures through which you know yourself

✨ Sky: perception, attention, thought, and interpretation

✨ Garden: emotion and the conditions in which feeling grows or withdraws

✨ Forest: instinct, procedural memory, parts, and patterning that can move before language

✨ Ocean: family, culture, history, and inheritance

✨ Space: awareness, uncertainty, scale, silence, and the return from abstraction to form

How do you know what you think you know?

The Hidden Hero’s Journey asks how you know what you think you know, and what becomes visible when the frame itself enters the room.

Together, they support a life that can feel, make, and examine meaning.

The Hidden Hero’s Journey will not remove uncertainty.

It helps you become less easily ruled by the first story that arrives.

The Deck

The cards don’t tell the future. They don’ reveal another person’s thoughts or deliver a verdict from elsewhere.

They are carefully made interruptions that can disturb an automatic frame you place on reality long enough for another question, perspective, or possibility to appear.

The Realer World is a 78-card Reality Literacy deck with a companion book.

The deck can be used independently, with its companion book, alongside a Sensual or Creative Hero’s Journey title, or as an ongoing Reality Literacy practice.
