The work matters to you.
So does the life you make around it.

Possibility

You are good at what you do. People keep asking you to do more of it. Yet an idea for something else returns whenever the day gives you a little room.

You can explain why it is impractical. You are less sure why you keep coming back to it. Perhaps you want different work. Perhaps you want a different place in the work you already do.

Possibility is the first realm of The Creative Hero’s Journey™. Here, that interest gets more attention than the reasons you usually dismiss it. You can begin finding out what draws you towards it, and what you hope it might change.

Permission

You know what you want to say. Then you picture who will read it, and begin making changes. The strongest sentence goes. The price comes down. You ask someone else whether it is ready.

Their advice may be useful. But sometimes you are also hoping they can spare you the exposure of choosing something another person might not choose.

Permission is the second realm. It stays with that moment: how to listen, use what helps and still have a voice in the work that carries your name.

Capacity

Someone wants what you have made. They are willing to pay for it. Help is offered. Something you have worked towards is becoming part of ordinary life.

You may find yourself enjoying it. You may also promise too much, struggle to let anyone help, or start worrying about the next thing before this one has had time to feel good. And sometimes the workload really has outgrown the arrangements that used to be enough.

Capacity is the third realm. It asks what would let you receive and sustain what you want, including the support, limits and changes that make it possible to enjoy the life you are working for.
