It isn’t control over the entire outcome. Thankfully. That would be an impossible job, and some of us are already trying to do it unpaid.

Their answer is theirs. Your offer is yours.

You can’t decide whether a client wants your proposal. You can decide what you offer, how clearly you explain it and what you are willing to promise.

You may still be disappointed by a no. Having agency doesn’t make you immune to other people’s decisions. It means their decision isn’t the only action in the story.

Sometimes participation is a small change: asking for time, finding support, gathering information or declining one part of a request. Real limitations belong in the picture. They don’t make every remaining choice meaningless.

Boundaries brings this into what you will offer or accept. Support asks what becomes possible when you aren’t expected to do everything alone.

Noba’s Self-Regulation and Conscientiousness explores how intentions become actions. It offers background for the practical side of agency: what helps you do something with the choice you have recognised?
