Body map

A body map is an outline or drawing where you record what you notice physically: tightness, warmth, pressure, heaviness, movement or very little sensation at all.

A body map is an outline or drawing where you record what you notice physically: tightness, warmth, pressure, heaviness, movement or very little sensation at all.

A mark, colour, word or shape can be enough. Your artistic reputation is safe. This isn’t an audition.

What did the explanation leave out?

You write that a conversation annoyed you. On the body map, you notice pressure in your throat and the urge to turn away. Those details may help you remember what it was like to be there before you found the polished account.

The map doesn’t decode itself. A tight throat doesn’t prove one particular feeling or memory. You explore the mark in relation to your own experience and circumstances.

In the guided seven-day books of the Sensual Hero’s Journey, body mapping gives sensation a place beside written reflection and audio practice.

Sensation offers language for what you notice. Expressive writing explores the different information that can appear when you put your response into words.
