Self-intimacy

Self-intimacy is a close, honest and attentive relationship with your own experience: what you feel, want, sense, imagine and find difficult to admit.

Self-intimacy is a close, honest and attentive relationship with your own experience: what you feel, want, sense, imagine and find difficult to admit.

Not constant self-analysis. Not becoming fascinatingly well informed about every reason you avoid a need.

A relationship.

You know why you say you’re fine. Can you hear what fine is covering today?

Tiredness. Disappointment. A wish to be held. The pleasure of not having to manage the next thing.

Self-intimacy gives those responses attention before you make them convenient, respectable or easy for someone else to hear.

I AWAKE brings this into books, guided audio, writing, bodily attention and imagination. You might notice what happens when you let a wish stay on the page without correcting it. Or when a guided encounter lets you approach a part of yourself you usually lecture.

The aim isn’t to make the inner life take over the outer one. It’s to be more available for your actual relationships, choices, creations and pleasures.

Presence concerns being involved in the moment. Receiving asks whether care can reach the person you’ve begun listening to more closely.
