Threshold

A threshold is a point of approach or transition, where you are considering entering something different from the familiar situation.

A conversation you haven’t had. A first public attempt. An imagined door in a guided practice.

It can be small and still feel consequential.

You are allowed to check what you are entering.

What does this ask? What support is available? Can you pause, leave or take a smaller step? Is the urgency yours, or somebody else’s preference for your quick agreement?

In the deck of the Hidden Hero’s Journey, The Threshold is a Circle card. It attends to how you approach an encounter rather than naming an additional domain. The Circle also appears practically in the guided seven-day books of the Sensual Hero’s Journey and the books of the Creative Hero’s Journey.

Crossing isn’t automatically the brave answer. Sometimes the thoughtful response is to gather information or remain where you are until the conditions change.

Consent keeps agreement and choice specific. Pacing asks how much you want to approach now, rather than making intensity the proof that something mattered.
