The capacity to act from an authorship that is not permanently waiting for approval, while still remaining accountable to context, consequence and other people.
Permission & self-authorship is the capacity to participate in your own life without requiring every meaningful move to be authorised from outside.
Permission does not mean “do whatever you want.” Self-authorship is not immunity from consequence. It means recognising where you have handed another person, institution, audience or imagined judge the final say over choices that are actually yours to make.
Whose permission are you still waiting for?
This capacity includes asking without shrinking: making a request, naming a direction or claiming a preference without pre-emptively making yourself smaller so the answer becomes easier for someone else to give.
