Reality literacy

The capacity to stay close to your experience while examining how meaning is being made, separating feeling, interpretation and evidence without dismissing any of them.

Reality literacy is the capacity to remain close to experience while asking how its meaning is being constructed.

A feeling can be real. A memory can matter. An image can be powerful. None of those facts automatically proves the conclusion built around them.

What do you know, what do you feel, and what are you inferring?

This capacity includes story-evidence separation and feeling-story separation. The aim is not sterile objectivity. It is enough differentiation that an interpretation can be examined without requiring you to invalidate the experience that produced it.

The glossary entries on Reality Literacy, Evidence and Interpretation give the conceptual ground. Is It a Pattern or Are You Projecting? applies the distinction to one of the most difficult everyday questions.

Seduce My Mind develops this capacity through thought and interpretation, while the Hidden Hero’s Journey extends it into symbolic and imaginal material.
