The Circle is a guided imaginal encounter found throughout the I AWAKE books. You follow the guidance into an inner scene or setting and meet aspects of your experience through image, sensation and relationship.
You can explain, very convincingly, why you shouldn’t need so much care. You may be much less prepared for how tender you feel when you imagine meeting the part of yourself that still wants it.
An explanation and an encounter don’t ask the same thing of you.
You don’t have to win the argument with yourself.
You notice the scene, the presence, the distance between you. Perhaps you feel impatient. Perhaps protective. Perhaps nothing clear happens at first.
There is something to meet before there is something to conclude. A little less hostility towards a part of yourself can be quite a lot.
Each guided seven-day book in the Sensual Hero’s Journey includes one Circle imaginal journey after its seven-day sequence. The Creative Hero’s Journey uses the Circle practically alongside its creative work. The Hidden Hero’s Journey gives the Circle’s meaning and structure more extensive attention.
In the deck of the Hidden Hero’s Journey, Circle cards explore the conditions of an encounter. They aren’t a seventh domain. The Circle is also distinct from the separate longer reusable practice accompanying the Sensual Hero’s Journey books.
Imaginal practice explains how an encounter can unfold. Imagination is useful when you’re wondering whether vivid pictures are required. You don’t have to produce a private cinema for an experience to matter.
